How can I attached the counterweight?
Attach the Counterweight:
The counterweight controls how much pressure the stylus will put on a record. If there is too much pressure, the sound will become distorted. If there is too little pressure, the stylus will skip out of the grooves on a record.
The tone arm should be balanced without the protective cover over the stylus, as it will affect the weight. Be careful not to damage the stylus while the cover is removed.
- Attach the counterweight on the rear of the tone arm and remove the ties and the tone arm lock securing it in place.
- Adjust the counterweight by turning clockwise or counter-clockwise until the tone arm floats naturally.
- Rotate the numbered dial (without rotating the counterweight) so that the marked “0” is at the top, 12 o’clock position, indicating the neutral balance setting for future reference.
- Grasping both the counterweight and the dial, rotate counter-clockwise so that the reading “0.4” is at the top, 12 o’clock position, indicating the tone arm is set for 4 grams of pressure on the record. This is the recommended setting for the stylus.
How can I load the record?
- Place your record on the platter, aligning it with the center spindle.
- Set the speed selector dial to match your record type - 33, 45, or 78. If you are playing a 45rpm record, be sure to place the 45rpm adapter on the platter first, so that it is between the platter and the record.
- Remove the protective cover on the stylus, then release the lock on the tone arm.
- Use the tone arm lift switch to raise the tone arm upwards, then carefully move it into position over the record.
- As the tone arm moves into position, the platter will start spinning. Use the tone arm lift switch to lower the tone arm stylus onto the record. When the stylus comes into contact with the grooves on the record, the turntable will send audio to the connected speakers.
