Sure wished I could use Alexa commands for Tidal and Pandora.... great speaker nice sound quality however not being able to use the voice commands to play my music from both apps that re previously downloaded sure do sucks.
I was really excited about this product. I have an Echo Dot and was contemplating purchasing the more expensive Echo with speaker. This looked like a slightly less expensive alternative.
Set up was fairly easy. Once the unit connected to my internet, an update to the latest OS was performed. I was excited to see that Pandora was now an option on the phone app. Sadly, Alexa informed me that this was not option for her. Strike 1.
Not a deal breaker. I simply chose to create an account with Spotify. Once this was completed and I was able to hear some music, I found the speaker quality lacking - not much better than a cheap bluetooth speaker. Perhaps the ability to adjust bass/treble levels via the app would help. Strike 2.
While listening to Spotify, I asked Alexa to "pause" so I could answer my phone. She paused for 1 second and then proceeded to play the song once again. I tried the command several times with the same results. Strike 3.
I am returning the unit today, so cannot testify to the quality of the battery.
The concept here is admirable. However, if your speaker is not truly Alexa compatible, it shouldn't be marketed as such. I'll pay the few extra dollars to get the full experience.
Thanks for the attempt, tho! I'll be watching to see if there are future improvements.
Rechargeable Battery Needs Improvement & use drxns
Overall this product does its job. I needed a portable unit for walking around in spaces in my home-it works. BUT Batterly life driving me crazy!! Two issues: there should be an option to keep it plugged in all the time-from my knowledge can't do this-must disconnect from power source when battery is charged so can't leave home or forget about it. Must watch over it- this is EXTREMELY ANNOYING! Secondly-does it have "battery memory" like other rechargeables? Do I recharge it after each use OR do I recharge it only when it says"battery is low"??? This usually matters for battery life-can't find answer. What I now do is walk around with it, and if wall socket near by I plug it in and listen. Sound good, it does the Alexa skills I need. Music even in bathroom sound is good. I also own two Amazon Echos...they were 3x's the price. They have a louder volume, a bit clearer tone but for the price this is a good unit, easy set up. BUT PLEASE, iLIVE Electronics, work on this battery and give better useage directions-I would pay more and then it would be a hit!!! Thanx!
Bought from tv shopping channel thinking this would be great to stream my Sirrius XM music via wifi. No way. Only has limited options via wifi. Guess if it was used with Bluetooth it would be able to but that defeats some of the portability. Device looks nice and easy to setup to wifi. Also Alexa feature would recognize a request for stock quote and moments later not be able to perform same request. Disappointing as this would have been setup for disabled husband to get info without needing computer access.
I bought this speaker to start up my smart home life without going out and spending over 100$ and let me tell you this is a no brainer if you have smart electronics controllable by Alexa this will cover you. but if you want to listen to music look elsewhere because this speakers sound quality is terrible but still better than the echo dot.also it can't do some of Amazon echoes functionalitys like calling another echo.and even though this is portable the battery is very low at full charge it would last me about 1hr at 100% and 2hrs at 50%.overall a decent little speaker for beginners.
I'll start by saying I love this speaker! The wifi function is great if you want to stream audio from one of the apps it supports. However, if you want to play music wirelessly from any other app (like podcasts, NPR One, audiobooks, etc.) you'll have to use the bluetooth setting.
My problem is when I switch over to bluetooth by pressing M/play/pause button the device never appears on my phone or computer in the bluetooth settings. I've used other bluetooth speakers and have never had this problem.
Am I doing something wrong?
I just got it today at FYE. I've been charging it for an hour now and the red light, which indicates that it still needs to be charged, is on. I'm not upset about that at all but u was wondering if it can be used while charging because I can't get it to turn on while plugged in and when I unplug it it still won't turn on... I assume while unplugged the problem is that it is still dead. I'll leave a review with more detail when I can get it to turn on.
The app isn't available on google play, I followed the directions in the manual and searched for it and used the QR code to find it. no luck I was really looking forward to this feature. Probably gonna take it back
