First, it is refreshing and very cool that ILive tries to respond to the various comments. That in itself says a lot.
I purchased three units this weekend as a sort of try out. I like them. A lot. But, I'm not quite ready to enthusiastically recommend them to friends because:
1. Battery life -- Far too short. I put the speakers in different rooms in my house right after I got them, and enjoyed a little music before I turned them off to go to bed. It is more than a bit disconcerting (frightening) to be jolted awake a couple of hours later by poltergeists-like, disembodied mechanical "moaning" echoing throughout the house because the batteries have gotten low. Hope you can come up with a fix that can keep them powered at least through the night.
2. Sound -- decent, but needs more bass and perhaps a variety of sound fields. I understand the Echo doesn't have it, but could you develop a fix through your app?
3. Making/receiving phone calls -- Is there an expectation that that function will become available to you?
As I said, I like the speakers, but a couple of tweaks and wow.
I'm a little sorry about this purchase. The sound for music isn't so great. I DO wish it had come w\the adapter that I see that is SOLD for extra, this way there is a choice, & we ALL love choices. I don't even know if I can use any adapters that I already have.
First product of this kind i have ever purchased seems to do all that is advertised but the battery life is miserable, instructions are vague, charge light stays on constantly when charging, never goes off until charger is unplugged. Portability is an issue unless you can plug it into a power source, probably look to upgrade in the future. Definitely entry level.
Disappointed about the battery life but it was expected based on the reviews.
I’ll be returning the speaker because I cannot ask it to play Spotify, the app is not supported and that is the main reason I wanted a smart speaker was to control music through that app. Very disappointed that the speaker doesn’t support one of the most popular music apps.
It might be just me but the app does not help much. For example I’m on the ET zone every time I asked Alexa what time is it she would go three hours ahead. They so go into settings to change but you can not.
These devices paired fine, sound nice, BUT don't integrate into home automation systems like a regular Alexa, and the Micro USB connections are a horrible idea. They should have opted for something more durable like a Lightning connection or something. Bought 6 units (the max), and now have two that are dead because the Micro USB adapters are so fragile! Very disappointed.
I just purchased this speaker and I believe it is a pretty good deal and I congratulate you on what I think is good, clean and elegant hardware.. I am a technology teacher, and on the side me and our students are reviewing technology gifts for Christmas. I told them about my purchase, I told them it was a good deal but I needed to ask you a couple of questions and would update them. I understand that you are working on Spotify and Pandora etc and you are most likely waiting on Amazon's avs service to catch up to manufacturers. ..
I have two questions...
I was wondering how long do you intend to support this device with updates?
Also do you plan on adding support for Reminders? I find that to be a core feature that I did find supriprising not being implemented yet. Probably the only thing keeping me at the moment from going out right now and buying enough for the rest of the house.. ( I need Reminders for Reminders)
I eagerly await your response .. and great job on a good looking product.
Thank you for your time
